David Beckham and ICE Marine, The Olympic opening Ceremony

It’s been a busy year

It’s been a busy year for the UK with the European Cup, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and let’s not forget our biggest triumph, the 2012 Olympics Games. Who could forget the iconic scene of our Nation’s hero David Beckham piloting that speed boat, carrying the Olympics torch down the Thames towards the Olympic Park.
You may have read about that boat in the press recently as this vessel, now synonymous with one of the UK’s greatest moments (and icons), went under auction last weekend at Brooklands in Surrey. Millions watched around the world as the boat, complete with four fake rockets emitting theatrical smoke made it’s way down the river at tops speeds… But the interest didn’t stop there; with news of the auction hitting the BBC website the site was soon flooded and within hours became the most read story of the day. The boat’s popularity was then cemented as under hammer it fetched well above the expected £300,000 price tag! The journey, from creation, to river, to auction has been closely monitored by Xcite Digital because the company responsible for developing and building the now famous Bladerunner RIB 35 is ICE Marine, one of Xcite Digital’s long-standing clients. Xcite Digital are currently managing a complete overhaul of ICE Marine’s website including a redesign and build as well as delivering an integrated international marketing campaign on their behalf. The future looks bright for ICE Marine and we’re incredibly proud of everything they have achieved; together we hope to make 2013 their best year yet.
